International Convention
is a week where Key Clubbers from around the world come together to celebrate the years of service Key Club has provided so far. People can participate in workshops, create friendships with other Key Clubbers, share service projects, and help select Key Club leaders for the upcoming term!
We do service, so we gave back to our convention host city with our service project!
This year, we used shopping bags to create plastic yarn that will be woven into waterproof mats for those in need. The woven mats will be given to the Atlanta nonprofit Hope thru Soap!
UNICEF ambassador Laurie Hernandez kicked off the International Convention, speaking to over 500 students about service, leadership, her experience as an Olympic athlete, and her trip with UNICEF to Panama’s Darien Region.
“Youth voice is so important; leaders like you help encourage others to follow in your footsteps. The leadership skills you are learning today motivate your generation; the change you drive is creating impact worldwide.” - Laurie Hernandez.
ICON is a great opportunity to see how Key Club functions worldwide. Many Key Club members only see how they impact their local community, but in reality, Key Club has an impact worldwide. Additionally, if you are interested in becoming a part of Key Club on the International Level, ICON is a great opportunity to get a taste of what it is. We will see you next year in Orlando!
